MARY ARGENTO

I am a first time published author who has had a love affair with words and those who weave them into a storytelling format for as long as I can remember.  I imagine it can be attributed to my father having worked for a book publisher when I was a child.  Occasionally he would come home with a hard covered book for me to read or to gift to a friend for their birthday.  I loved handling the books and flipping through the pages, much as an adult loves that “new car” smell.  I recognized early on that words have the ability to be both powerful and sublime and how we wield them can make a huge impact in our lives as well as the lives of others.

Goodness on Deposit™ is a labor of love which was conceived many years ago but never acted on.  It was actually the answer to a silent prayer to the Holy Spirit when a dear friend suffered a serious illness which would ultimately take his life.  I remember thinking how important it was to identify and embrace one’s purpose in life before it was too late.  I prayed for direction and enlightenment to humbly recognize what my life was meant to contribute.  The idea and words for Goodness on Deposit™ flowed immediately and effortlessly as a result of my prayer.  It is my belief that God tasked me in some small way to reach young minds and instill a sense of kindness and duty toward others which can take root while they are young and find a resting place in their hearts throughout their lives.

“Goodness on Deposit™- The Ginormous Tiny Idea” is the first in a series of books which promote a child’s awareness of other’s needs and demonstrates practical ways for children to make a difference in the life of a friend, neighbor or family member. It is a sweet interactive story which teaches children, through M.T.’s journey, to identify acts of kindness that need doing and record them in their Goodness on Deposit™ bankbook which is outlined in the book. M.T., our 8 year old main character very much admires his mother because she is kind and loving to others and possesses what he believes to be a “heart of gold”. A small seed of an idea begins to percolate in M.T.’s head. He has a vision where he, along with his buddies, would open up a Goodness on Deposit™ Bank where children like himself would deposit their good deeds until they reach a balance which would earn them a heart of gold.
